Parks and Trails

Thank you for your interest in reserving a Thurston County Park Facility!

Thurston County parks are open daily, 9:00 a.m. – dusk, year round.

County parks are free to use and do not require a Discover Pass.  Facility rentals are available for a fee.

Thurston County has three developed parks with reservable picnic space. If a park is not listed below, it does not have reservable space.

Burfoot Park: Located near Boston Harbor, the park has a restroom, playground and 3 reservable shelters, each with a large BBQ, tables and seating for 24 guests.  Beautiful forested trails will take you down to the beach.
ADA access to a viewing area near the beach is available. Call 360-786-5595 for information.

Public Works staff is adding a restroom near the playground and replacing the current restroom. Construction is scheduled to begin in May and be finished in Fall 2022. Construction is not scheduled on the weekends or holidays including May 30, June 19, July 4, and September 5.

During construction guests can expect the following:

  • The park will remain open with construction areas fenced off.
  • A restroom will be available for your use throughout construction.
  • Additional noise from construction activities and equipment while this work is being completed.
  • Equipment and contractor vehicles in parking spots near the work zone.

Recreation Services

The Thurston County Recreation Services Department provides recreation programs and activities for people of different abilities. Our primary goal is to provide opportunities for learning and growth through the experience of recreation and leisure activities. We take pride working in partnership with the Cities of Olympia, Tumwater, and Lacey to provide activities and programs through Specialized Recreation.

These programs are designed to give persons with developmental and/or physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in events and activities within the community and surrounding area. Most are suitable for ages 16 and older and include day trips, monthly dances, bingo, Movie & Pizza Night, Dinner Club and fitness programs.
